The USIC® (Ultrashort Incision Cheeklift) Facts
The first signs of aging in your face occur in your eye and cheek region. Facial aging usually shows up in your mid-face in your 40’s and 50’s. Hollow cheeks start to look sunken, marionette lines become deeper as nasolabial folds become more noticeable, and you may develop an angry look as the muscles between your eyes change and smile lines deepen as your cheek fat pads begin to descend. The thin eyelid skin underneath your eye descends down due to the effects of gravity and this same gravity affects your cheek and also causes “jowl” formation. Fortunately for you, there is an excellent option available to elevate your cheeks, restore fullness to your cheekbones, elevate the corners of your mouth, and improve your jowls as well as the appearance of your lower eyelids.
Dr. Brent Moelleken, M.D., F.A.C.S. is a Plastic and Reconstructive surgeon practicing in Beverly Hills and Santa Barbara, California. Double board certified, he received his training at Harvard University, Yale University, UCSF, and UCLA. Dr. Moelleken is one of three specialty-trained surgeons in the world to complete the yearlong Aesthetic Surgery Fellowship at UCLA. He maintains the prestigious FACS degree and is a member of the ASPS and ASAPS. He has innovated numerous procedures, including LiveFill®, the LUSIC® Cheeklift, the 360 Facelift®, the Neck-Lace procedure to restore harmonious youth and beauty to your face, and the Hybrid tummy tuck®, a short incision tummy tuck procedure.
Another of the innovative cosmetic surgery procedures developed by Dr. Moelleken is the USIC. The USIC is the Ultrashort Incision Cheeklift. This procedure takes away the need to make incisions underneath your eyelid where the majority of Cheeklift incisions are usually made. The problem with the traditional incisions is that they tend to cause droopiness and can actually change the shape of your eye. Dr. Moelleken’s innovative cosmetic surgery technique is superficial and the fat restoration included in this cosmetic procedure provides a more rested appearance.
The superficial Cheeklift elevates your cheek pads and rejuvenates your lower eyes. The midfacial area and the lower eyelids cannot be rejuvenated by a conventional facelift incision. Conventional lower eyelid surgery is performed with a laser or scalpel, which removes skin and fat from the lower eye. Finally it can cause a hollow, pulled look of the face and a windswept, unnatural “too tight” appearance will result if that is attempted. When performed at the same time as a facelift, the superficial Cheeklift avoids this by elevating your cheeks, rather than by pulling them to the side and the result is a more natural rejuvenation.
